To gather primary research, I decided to go to my brother’s workplace as he is a mechanic and it’s the perfect place for me to gather research as my project is centred around transport. My time spent there was dedicated to taking pictures of car parts like suspension, the engine bay and of where a car would need to be jacked from. As well as this I was also shown how to change a tire and put it back onto the car, I took pictures of this process. To finish the day off I was shown how to weld metal together. Using the welder, I was able to practise a T joint, stitch weld and I practised to get a continues bead on the metal.
Overall, I found this day very useful towards my project because I had gained hands on experience of working on cars and using tools that I had little knowledge of using (welder). As well as this I was able to collect detailed images of car part which will be helpful to me when drawing these parts so that I can make them accurately. Finally, I took two types of spark plugs so that I can use them in some way for an experimental model.
