Batteries
The batteries are commonly placed in a lower section of a car and sometimes they run along the floor. This give the car a lower center of gravity, which helps the car stay planted while cornering. As many batteries are use the weight of car is significantly heavier than a conventional car.
Electric cars still use an auxiliary battery. This battery is used to power all the electric powered features like light and the radio. These features will power on even if the driving batteries need charging as they are controlled by a separate battery.
Unfortunately, the weather effects electric cars. In colder weather the car will have a noticeable drop in range compared to warmer weather.
Electric motor
The electric motor is used to drive the car’s wheels and, if two motors are used with one being placed on each axle, then electric cars can have four-wheel drive too. The Jaguar I-Pace, for example, has two electric motors and four-wheel drive, while the Nissan Leaf features one electric motor and is front-wheel drive.
Charging
Fully electric cars and plug-in hybrids must be plugged in to recharge, either from a standard domestic socket, from a wall-mounted charger or from a fast charger at motorway service stations or in big towns and cities.
